Get Your Kicks: Balance X Bricks & Wood Collaboration
The Collection Is Seen As An Homage To Black America And The Importance Of Black Americans.
Bricks & Wood, the proudly black-owned Los Angeles fashion label, has teamed up with New Balance for an interesting East Coast meets West Coast collaboration. These two brands may have come from very different places to get to where they are today, but here they have come together for a common cause.
The collection is seen as an homage to Black America and the importance of Black Americans. It centres around the classic New Balance 57/40 trainer. Brick & Wood has reimagined the model with a more standout colourway, mixing up red, yellow and green for a quite dazzling design. The green is a nod to a neighbourhood very close to the heart of Bricks founder Kacey Lynch.
If you’re not in the market for a new pair of sneakers but still want to get behind this highly relevant and meaningful collab, there are other offerings from the partnership. There’s also some super cool green socks adorned with the Bricks & Wood logo.
Although the collection is inspired by sportswear, it has clearly been created for that pure South Central LA street style – for those who like to rock casual, yet bold threads. It’s already proving rather difficult to get your hands on the sneakers, so move quickly if you see a pair!
Jeans and chinos are a little different, though. These days large is back but we still see a good amount of leg cut. Chinos can be worn with a little length but don’t over do it. Fitted slim to fitted chinos around ankle length or just below are fine. Jeans are by far the most diverse when it comes to length. There is more freedom, although the large and long style is probably best left in the early 2000s where it belongs – or at skate parks.
