My favourite saying is ‘modesty empowers some, and nudity empowers others’
When you need to get away from it all, nothing beats ditching the city for a getaway to a cosy cabin secluded in the bush to soothe the soul.
Afterall, what could be better than ditching your deadlines, leaving WiFi behind and spending the weekend shacked up in a countryside cabin with gorgeous company?
If you’re feeling a bit burnt out, this set shot by photographer Troy Freyee of the gorgeous Maddie Neville in the Gold Coast hinterland is guaranteed to charge up your batteries.
What do you enjoy about nude modelling?
I’ve always been drawn to minimalism, and when it comes to photography and modelling, I’ve always loved the vulnerability that comes with nudity. It’s just you, your body, your environment and the camera - no material distraction. The power and emotion that can show through these moments in time, the shapes we can make with our bodies and the confidence women can find in doing nude modelling is something that no other style of modelling or photography can beat, for me anyway. There are stories in the details of our bodies that no pretty dress or handbag will ever be able to match.
Do you find nudity empowering?
My favourite saying is ‘modesty empowers some, and nudity empowers others’. Both of which are totally okay and should be more widely accepted. My answer though is HELL YES! Loving and accepting your body in its most pure raw form is one of the most empowering feelings ever.
How was your Penthouse shoot with Troy Freyee?
Oh my god, this shoot was a DREAM! We shot at the most beautiful little cottage tucked away in the Gold Coast hinterland, it was seriously something out of a fairy tale. The team made me feel so comfortable and at ease, it barely even felt like we were shooting. We spent the afternoon hanging out, laughing, painting, getting warm by the fire then getting steamy in the bath tub - all the things you’d want from a little getaway.
You’re also a photographer…
[Laughs] Yes! I am! I started up film photography @honeysonfilm_ about a year and a half ago and haven’t looked back. My work is definitely focussed around the female body and creating normalisation and appreciation around the differences in all of us. As with modelling, I am very drawn to skin and minimalism within my photography. If my model comes away feeling good about herself after the shoot, then my job is done and I’m a happy lady!
What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t working?
I love being outdoors and in nature. I’m a sucker for a good camping weekend and some 4WDriving. I’m always by the ocean, I love surfing, going on bike rides and just spending time in the sun. Anything active and outdoors – animals are a bonus. No reception always goes down nicely too!
