Jade Amber Williams brings a whole new meaning to breath-taking landscape
She’s been painted head to toe in gold in the name of art but for her debut Penthouse shoot, Jade Amber Williams has stripped it all back. Shot by photographer Rowan Kyle among the rugged volcanic rock formations at Cathedral Rocks, this Sydney-based model shows us a kind of beauty that can only be found in nature. Enjoy the scenery.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up all over the place. My family moved around a lot. I’ve lived in England for a few years and went to school there. I’ve lived on the Gold Coast as a kid. Mainly grew up on the South Coast, NSW. We lived on a farm out the back of Dunmore for most of my schooling years before relocating to Kiama and I’ve stayed on the South Coast ever since.
How did you get started as a model?
I started modelling about seven years ago. I remember being so awkward at my first shoot and not knowing how to pose or what to do but like everything, with some practice and many shoots later, you come into your own and find your own little creative edge. It took about a year or so before I was creative directing my own shoots, styling, concept and makeup.
What do you enjoy about modelling?
Being able to be creative and have fun. It’s always cool seeing an idea come to life in a photoshoot.
Tell us about your shoot for Penthouse. Where was it shot?
We shot this at Cathedral Rocks in Kiama. It’s actually a well-known spot for photographers all over. It never disappoints. It’s a really beautiful spot. We decided to keep it natural and not overdo any looks and just strip it all back.
Are you an indoors or outdoors person?
I’m a bit of both. But I would probably say indoors. I’m a massive homebody and I love being at home in my own space. I’m honestly so happy when I’m at home. I don’t mind where I’m shooting as long as there is natural light. I love to shoot in natural light.
What do you try and convey when you're being photographed?
Authenticity, connection through the images and creativity. I always try to bring my own personality to everything I do.
What/who inspires you and your creativity?
Kate Moss has been a huge muse and inspiration to me. Not only is she gorgeous but she’s just known for her authenticity and just being a boss and owning her look. In saying that, I think I inspire myself. I only ever want to do and be better than myself and previous shoots I’ve done. I’ll usually come up with a concept for a small idea I’ve seen like a make-up look and just turn it into a big creative project.
Tell us about your most memorable photo shoot.
There have been so many. Probably the time I got painted gold from head to toe (literally head to toe). There was gold paint EVERYWHERE. It turned out epic though so it was well worth it.
Tell us about your earliest Penthouse magazine memory.
My favourite cover and earliest memory for me was Pamela Anderson. She’s such an icon.
Tell us something about you we might not expect.
I’m actually pretty funny. I don’t get enough recognition for how funny I can be.
What’s something you live by?
Don’t tell people your plans, show them your results.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Hopefully, this isn’t the last time you see me in Penthouse I’d love to come back and do this again. It’s been fun!
